Joe A. Rector Jr. was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the heart of Indian country. He is of Cherokee ancestry.

Joe Jr. grew up with art as a part of his life. His style of art is heavily influence by his fathers' work. As soon as he was able to hold a pencil he would look at Joe Sr.'s art and try to draw "like dad". An interest in art led Joe to attend training, under the guidance of his mother from Priscilla Hauser. By age 14 he had completed training and became the youngest accredited teacher in the nation.

Joe Jr. continued his studies of the arts in drafting and design through the end of his education. He has used his creative and artistic abilities in architectural and engineering design since 1984.

As technology changed over the last decade Joe Jr. expanded his artistic endeavors to include the computer graphics. Joe has become established as an accomplished book cover designer having his work used on the works of over a dozen published novels. In addition to artwork, Joe has written two novels.
